What are the differences in the transfer of shares between private and public limited companies?

In public limited companies, shares are registered and entered into the Estonian Register of Securities, and transfers follow the provisions of the Securities Register Maintenance Act. Shares are generally freely transferable, and the company’s management board is responsible for promptly updating the share register. In contrast, private limited companies may have more restrictions and require notarial authentication for share transfers to third parties.
